Without becoming ecumenical, Jesus’ prayer before His death was that all believers of all time may be one, as He is One with the Father. This was in context of preparation for the Passover. It was Jesus’ dying prayer, knowing that He was about to leave the church, His one body, and go to be with the Father. And His urgent, heartfelt prayer was that the church—genuine believers everywhere from all time—would be united and of one mind. Denominationalism is the enemy of God and of unity.
