Jehovah’s False Witnesses
So normally we preach about what we believe from the Bible … but today is unique in that I’m preaching about what another religion believes …
… because we need to be aware of false teachings so that we can be more effective when we’re out there preaching the Gospel …
… & also to be aware of false doctrines that can invade the churches of God.
& so I’m preaching about a cult that goes by the name of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
& I have to tell you, this was a painful experience …
Because the more I looked into it, it was false teaching after false teaching …
From denying that Jesus Christ is God … To denying the Trinity …
To denying that the Holy Spirit is One of Three Distinct Persons of the Godhead …
To denying the Existence of Everlasting Punishment in Hell.
To adding & removing from Scripture to prop up their own false teachings …
& If I were to tell you that there is a religious group who goes by the name of Jehovah …
… Who Claims to be WITNESSES of JEHOVAH GOD, but then turns around & denies every foundation Biblical truth,
… wouldn’t it be safe to say that they are FALSE WITNESSES of the BIBLICAL JEHOVAH?
And, so in good conscience, I can’t call them by any other name than JEHOVAH’S FALSE WITNESSES …
The JEHOVAH’S FALSE WITNESSES in no way, shape or form, represent the true Jehovah of Biblical Christianity.
And if you think about it WE ARE Jehovah’s True Witnesses, as born again, Bible-believing, Saved-by-the-Blood Christians who have put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation …
… We have believed the record that God gave of His Son.
Now, the Bible has a lot to say about False Witnesses in general.
Testifying falsely is listed among the things that God hates in Proverbs 6:16-19:
16 These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Proverbs 19:5: “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.”
Exodus 20:16, the 9th Commandment says: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
Now, it’s one thing to bear false witness against your neighbor, but to bear false record against God, His WORD, & His Holy Spirit is taking it to another level!
In other words, the JFWs blaspheme the TRINITY, in the way that they testify falsely about Him.
Now, let me just impress upon you how massive & influential this cult really is. This is no small-time group.
• The JWF have approx. 8 million members worldwide!
• Their main monthly publication, the WATCHTOWER BIBLE & TRACT SOCIETY has a circulation of 40 MILLION per issue!
The WATCHTOWER is the #1 distributed magazine IN THE WORLD!
It goes out in 180 languages into 236 countries!
No other RELIGIOUS, POLITICAL, or CORPORATE organization has the kind of reach that the JFW have.
They also believe that the WATCHTOWER is GOD’S CHANNEL OF COMMUNICATION on the earth.
And that without the WATCHTOWER, members do not have the proper ability to interpret the Bible for themselves.
So, of course, like most cults, they don’t encourage independent reading of the Bible outside of their own literature.
But here, we want you to test what I say against the Word of God and see whether it be true!
Now to give you an idea of the scope of their reach, PEOPLE magazine only has 3.5 million circulation.
National Geographic has 2 million.
Good House Keeping has about 4.3 million.
But all these pale in comparison to WATCHTOWER’s 40 million reach!
& ALL 8 million JFWs are required to go DOOR TO DOOR proselytizing, passing out literature or starting Bible studies in people’s homes!
They call this FIELD WORK.
& ALL MEMBERS are required to do FIELD WORK to maintain their salvation.
It’s recorded that 1.8 billion hours of field work are done per year by JFWs. That 5 million hours a day!
And if you do the math, that’s approx. 208,000 hours of field work per hour.
The Bible says that the laborers are few … when it comes to harvesting souls & preaching the real Gospel …
There’s not many real Christians that go out there soul winning door to door!
But Satan apparently has more workers in his harvest than God does!
As incredible as that is!
So Satan is a great soul winner! The vast majority of this world’s people are on their way to Hell.
Because few there be that find it!
So now that you understand how enormous this organization really is …
• LET’S BEGIN WITH cross-examining their version of the Bible, called THE NEW WORLD TRANSLATION.
• The NEW WORLD TRANSLATION is a FALSE WITNESS against the WORD OF GOD.
It was compiled between 1950 and 1961.
So it’s a very recent translation, dating back to the 20th century.
So their false version of Jehovah couldn’t preserve His Word until 1961, because every Bible translation before then was in disagreement with the NWT.
Their translations were done in secret, but the Watchtower refuses to divulge the names & credentials of their translators.
That alone should be a red flag.
But eventually it became clear that it was their leader Frederick Franz & Nathan Knorr among others who compiled the translation.
But as it turns out, none of the translators had knowledge of Hebrew or Greek.
So they just copied & altered previous translations and made changes where they deemed it necessary to prop up their own false teachings.
Now the 1 verse that most Christians are familiar with that they change is John 1:1.
That’s not the only Scripture they change.
But let’s begin w/ John 1:1 KJV: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
NWT: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”
So the first thing they do is attack the DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST.
& They interpret “a god” as “an angelic being”, because they also believe that JESUS was THE ARCHANGEL MICHAEL.
Where do they get that from?
1 Thessalonians 4:16: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:”
But, of course, that verse doesn’t say that the Lord is an archangel, but that He’ll descend WITH THE VOICE of the archangel.
So they have basic reading comprehension problems there.
& BY CHANGING the Bible to say that Jesus was “a god” rather than God, they’re introducing the concept of “polytheism” to the Bible …
… the idea that there are an indefinite # of gods.
This is something that John the apostle, a monotheistic Jew would never have done.
Another problem with translating God in John 1:1 as “a god” is that the NWT puts “a god” in small caps …
… but they capitalize “God” (with a BIG G) when referring to God the Father …
NWT: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God [CAPTILIZED], and the Word was a god. [small caps]”
… But that’s also inconsistent, because in the original New Testament Greek, all words are written in ALL CAPS …
… there is no “BIG G” or “little g” in New Testament Greek.
So they’re just arbitrarily making that change, to suit their agenda.
They also change John 1:14 KJV where the Bible calls Jesus: “… the only begotten of the Father …” to:
“… an only-begotten son from a father” in the NWT.
Again, demoting Jesus from Godhood.
John 8:58 KJV: “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
We know that I AM is a designation of the eternal pre-existent God who appeared to Moses in the burning bush.
But the NWT changes this: “Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, before Abraham came into existence, I have been.”
So changing “I AM” to “I HAVE BEEN”, means that Jesus did not always exist as the eternal I AM, but only that He existed prior to Abraham …
So these are subtle, but important, changes.
Colossians 1:16-17 KJV:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
But wherever Colossians says that Jesus created ALL THINGS, they change that to “ALL OTHER THINGS”.
NWT:
16 because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him.
17 Also, he is before all other things, and by means of him all other things were made to exist …
4 TIMES they change that Jesus created “ALL THINGS” to “ALL OTHER THINGS”.
… because they believe that JEHOVAH created JESUS, and then JESUS created “all other things”.
So these changes in the NWT are very deliberate.
& They’re NOT BASED on the original HEBREW or GREEK MANSCRIPTS …
… but instead on the false teachings & whims of the JFW & the WATCHTOWER.
• Another verse that they change:
Hebrews 1:6 KJV says: “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.”
The NWT removes the word “worship” and changes it to obeisance.
NWT: “But when he again brings his Firstborn into the inhabited earth, he says: “And let all of God’s angels do obeisance to him.”
And God says in the REAL BIBLE, in the 2nd commandment, Exodus 20:5 says, speaking of idols and other gods: “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God …”
• So why would God command the ANGELS to worship Jesus, unless Jesus IS God?
Zechariah 12:10 KJV: “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”
NWT: “… they will look upon the one whom they have pierced…”
Again, not an accident; these changes are NOT SUPPORTED by the original manuscripts …
Look also what they do to Hebrews 1:8 KJV: “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”
NWT: “But about the Son, he says: “God is your throne forever and ever …
They change it into a question … & the grammar is non-sensical. It doesn’t make grammatical sense!
• So it’s not just 1 or 2 verses …
The ENTIRE CONTENT of BIBLICAL REVELATION is altered in order to deny the DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST …
… & other important doctrines essential to the Christian faith.
• But the Bible makes it super clear who Jesus is:
Isaiah 9:6: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
THE JWF ALSO DENY the physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.
They say that He DID NOT resurrect in the same body that He died in, but that He was recreated & rose again as a SPIRIT.
Why is this significant?
Because this goes to the heart of the Christian Gospel: the DEATH, BURIAL, & RESURRECTION of JESUS CHRIST.
A KEY VERSE that we use when we preach the Gospel is 1 Corinthians 15:3-4:
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
In 1 Corinthians 15:14-15, Paul also says:
14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
But we, like PAUL are not a false witnesses, because we affirm with the Scriptures that Jesus rose bodily from the grave.
In John 2:19-21, Jesus Himself clearly affirmed this:
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
They’ll use verses 1 Corinthians 15:50 which says: “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God”.
So they’ll say, see? Jesus’ body did not rise, because “flesh and blood” cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, and only His Spirit rose again.
But after Jesus rose from the dead, He spoke of His body having “flesh and bones”, not “flesh and blood”:
Luke 24:39: “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.”
So our resurrected bodies will not have blood. We won’t be cut & bleed in heaven … that’s an earthly characteristic.
But we will have a body of FLESH & BONES, like Jesus did, albeit our bodies will be glorified & perfected, like Jesus.
• Another aspect of the TRINITY that the JWF attack is the HOLY SPIRIT.
The JFW say that the HOLY SIRIT is an IMPERSONAL FORCE which emanates from God, like energy.
They believe that the TRINITY itself is SATANIC.
In a publication called, “RECONCILIATION” published in 1928, they wrote: “Never was there a more deceptive doctrine advanced than that of the Trinity. It could have originated in only one mind, and that the mind of Satan the devil”.
In another publication entitled, “Reject the Trinity”, they wrote: “There can be no compromise with God’s truths. Hence, to worship God on his terms means to reject the Trinity doctrine…”
Of course, their first objection is that the word “Trinity” is nowhere found in the Bible.
But the concept of the Trinity (the GODHEAD) is all throughout Scripture.
Genesis 1:26, the very first chapter of the Bible: “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”
1 John 5:7, the most clear Scripture on the Trinity: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”
THE GREAT COMMISSION in Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
John 15:26 is a great verse on the Trinity; all THREE PERSONS of the Trinity are present in this verse: “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:”
2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all.”
Now, you can’t have communion with an impersonal force.
You have communion with a Living Being, in this case the Holy Spirit.
& I’ll be returning to this topic in the upcoming months, defending the Doctrine of the Trinity in more detail …
… because that’s another doctrine that is under attack today!
Finally, look at ACTS 13:2: “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.”
An INACTIVE FORCE, does not speak!
But here it says, THE HOLY GHOST SAID.
So if He’s speaking, He’s alive! And a part of the Godhead!
But look what the NWT does to Genesis 1:1-2 KJV:
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
NWT:
1 In [the] beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of [the] watery deep; and God’s active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.
THE CROSS IS ALSO REMOVED from the NWT, because they believe the Cross is an idolatrous Roman Catholic symbol.
They say that Jesus died on a “torture stick”, up like this on a single beam, with a single nail going through his hands.
& They change the Scriptures:
Colossians 1:18, KJV: “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
NWT: “For the speech about the torture stake is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is God’s power.”
They even have the modern corrupt “who are being saved” in their version, because remember …
… they’re based on the Westcott-Hort / Nestle Aland modern manuscripts, instead of the Textus Receptus KJV.
But think about it …
The Bible says that there were NAILS in Jesus’ hands.
John 20:25: “The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
Another thing JFW don’t believe in is the BIBLICAL CONCEPT of EVERLASTING HELL & punishment.
They believe in annihilation of the soul, just like the 7th Day Adventists.
& the reason for that is because CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL, the founder of the JFW, used to be a 7th-Day Adventist and a former Millerite.
So both believe in SOUL SLEEP and the annihilation of unbelievers.
• But the Bible is clear about Hell.
Matthew 25:46 KJV: “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
NWT: “These will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones into everlasting life.”
Daniel 12:2: “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”
Shame and contempt are experienced by eternal souls, who live on, not souls that have been annihilated out of existence.
JFW also change calling on the name of the LORD for SALVATION.
They believe that you have to know the name JEHOVAH for salvation.
…whereas the Bible says there is 1 NAME under heaven given among men, where by must be saved (Acts 4:12), and that name is Jesus!
Look at Romans 10:13 KJV, one of our key verses in soul winning, which they change: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
NWT: For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.”
So you specifically have to know the name JEHOVAH, according to their Scriptures.
But the Bible says that JESUS is the MEDIATOR between GOD & MAN.
When we get saved, we MUST call on the name of JESUS, not JEHOVAH.
And you might ask WHY NOT on the name of Jehovah? Isn’t that God’s name?
Well that’s the name of God the Father …
… but it’s not in the name of God the Father that we receive the blood atonement, but are saved by the blood of Jesus.
Because, if we try to get to JEHOVAH (GOD THE FATHER) WITHOUT JESUS, we are still in our sins.
We can’t get to JEHOVAH w/out Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:5: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;”
So those are the main 5 areas where they really veer off:
THE DEITY OF CHRIST, REJECTION OF THE HOLY GHOST as a Living Part of the Godhead, REJECTION OF THE TRINITY, REJECTION of a LITERAL HELL …
… & then HOW ONE IS SAVED.
So let’s end w/ what the JFW believe about SALVATION.
JFW believe that 4 things have to be present to be truly saved:
(1) ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE.
They’re not talking about personal knowledge or relationship with God, but an intellectual understanding. More like head-knowledge.
Look at John 17:3 in the KJV: “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”
So Biblical salvation isn’t based on HEAD KNOWLEDGE of God, it’s based on PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE of the SAVIOR!
NWT, 1984 they changed John 17:3 to read: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.”
This was later changed again as recently as 2013.
(2) They believe you have to live morally and repent of sins.
In other words, they preach WORKS-SALVATION.
(3) Watchtower Membership
If you’re not a JFW, you’re not saved!
They believe you have to join what they call “GOD’S GOVERNMENT”, which is active through the WATCHTOWER.
(4) FIELD WORK
You have to go door to door & start Bible studies, & pass out the WATCHTOWER.
That’s why EVERY MEMBER does their false version of soul winning! Their salvation depends on it!
BUT THE WEIRD THINGS is current FW don’t even believe that they will go to heaven!
Because they believe that only 144,000 select, elite members will be ruling in heaven with Jesus!
& the 144,000 have already been selected!
So all you can hope now is to be a 2nd class citizen of believers who will live on the earth as paradise.
Supposedly God began collecting the 144,000 at Pentecost in A.D. 33 but stopped collecting them in 1935, when the full number was reached.
They call those outside the 144,000, “THE GREAT CROWD”, a term they get from Revelation, describing those who have been raptured.
THE KING JAMES actually uses the phrase “THE GREAT MULTITUDE”.
But this is so easy to refute, because the GREAT MULTITUDE in REVELATION is described as worshipping God around the throne in heaven.
But they say these are people that will remain on earth, and never go to heaven!
Revelation 7:9-11:
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God …
So, huge discrepancy there that they can’t adequately explain.
Eventually, they’ll just probably find a way to change their Bible.
• They also believe that Christ already returned spiritually in 1914 and is currently ruling the earth from heaven.
Really? Because the world still looks like a mess to me! & it’s getting worse!
The JFW also predicted the end of the world in 1918, 1920, 1925, 1941, & as recently as 1975.
They’ve stopped prophesying specific dates since then.
I think they got the picture after 6 times of being wrong!
So clearly this is a false religion, a cult, and their witness of God, Jehovah, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Salvation, & the Bible is false!
And I didn’t even get time to get into disfellowship & ex-communication that they use to intimate & control members.
This whole organization is FALSE.
They’re not even close to being Christian, even though they use the name JEHOVAH!
Their doctrines are FULL OF LIES!
The Bible says in Romans 3:4: “… yea, let God be true, but every man a liar …”
Let’s be sure that when we testify about God, about Jesus, about the Holy Spirit, about the Bible … that our testimony is true!
1 John 5:10: “He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.”
