HEBREW ROOTS HERESY

Last week, we talked about the name of JESUS vs. YESHUA …

… & I proved that there is a distinction to be made in the likely pronunciation between ANCIENT HEBREW & MODERN HEBREW …

… & that we don’t really know for certain how the NAME OF JESUS would have been pronounced 2,000 YRS AGO …

… because the SPOKEN MODERN HEBREW of today, is a RECONSTRUCTED, SCHOLARLY REVIVAL of ANCIENT HEBREW …

… that scholars in the 19TH CENTURY got together & revived Hebrew as a SPOKEN LANGUAGE …

… The ORIGINAL HEBREW of JESUS’ TIME had not spoken for approx. 1,500 YRS.

& so the NAME YESHUA is simply another modern TRANSLATION of His name …

… just like JESUS is HIS NAME in ENGLISH …

… & that’s perfectly fine …

… but to make the claim that YESHUA is more authentic is a modern FALLACY.

In fact, if anything, we see that the APOSTLES wrote the NEW TESTAMENT in GREEK …

… And in GREEK, they wrote IESOUS (YEY-ZOOS] …

… & so the apostles themselves were perfectly satisfied with Jesus’ name being translated, & so should we.

TODAY, I’d like to dive into the ACTUAL DOCTRINES of the so-called “TORAH-OBSERVANT” “HEBREW ROOTS MOVEMENT” …

… and refute their teachings from a CHRISTIAN, BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE.

And let me just say that not every single person that considers themselves HEBREW ROOTS or “TORAH OBSERVANT” …

… is going to believe everything that I talk about today …

… because there is DIVERGENCE within their own camp …

… but this is the GENERAL DOCTRINAL NARRATIVE that is emerging around the HEBREW ROOTS RELIGION.
And that’s exactly what they are: another FALSE RELGION.

AND WHAT IS THEIR MAIN PREMISE?

Their fundamental teaching is that we must return to the MOSAIC LAW & follow EVERYTHING …

EVERY COMMANDMENT listed in the TORAH …

… that we need to obey ALL OF THE LAWS, including the CARNAL ORDINANCES …

& the things that FORESHADOWED CHRIST …

& As I mentioned last week, members of THE HEBREW ROOTS MOVEMENT …

… consider “CHRISTIAN” & “CHRISTIANITY” a BAD WORD …

… because they believe that WESTERN CHRISTIANITY has been UTTERLY CORRUPTED by ROMAN CATHOLIC & PAGAN INFLUENCES.

That’s why they AGGRESIVELY SHUN holidays like CHRISTMAS & EASTER in favor of the OLD TESTAMENT FEASTS & FESTIVALS …

… which foreshadowed CHRIST.

& I’ll address this in the sermon …

But we see the word … “CHRISTIAN”, is applied to BELIEVERS 3 separate times in the New Testament …

When BARNABAS was going out to seek Paul, Acts 11:26 says: “And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”

So we see that the BELIEVERS were called CHRISTIANS by the people in ANTIOCH …

… & they did not rejected this name, but instead embraced it.

We also see that in Acts 26:28, that after Paul preached the Gospel to King Herod Agrippa …

… that the king said to Paul: “… Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.”

Finally, in 1 Peter 4:16, the apostle Peter says: “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

So by this time, the name, “CHRISTIAN” was fully embraced by the APOSTLES themselves.

In fact, CHRISTIAN is the Biblical label that we can fully embrace …

… along with words like, “the elect”, the “called”, “the brethren”, “Saints”, “believers” …

… these are all names that the Bible uses to describe Christians.

& CHRISTIAN means to be of Christ or a follower of Christ.

But those who follow the HERETICAL TEACHINGS of the HEBREW ROOTS MOVEMENT reject the Christian name …

… reject the most fundamental & basic principles of the Christian faith …

… they claim that they’re not even BORN AGAIN …

… many of them claim that they won’t even be SAVED until Jesus returns & sets up the millennial kingdom …

.. they ultimately preach works, while they give lip service to grace …

… & they place themselves under the LEVITICAL, MOSAIC LAW instead of the NEW COVENANT …

In fact, they don’t even believe that there IS a NEW COVENANT.

They say that there is 1 COVENANT, the Mosaic Law …

& that the “NEW COVENANT” is a “RENEWED COVENANT” that is yet to come …

They say that “NEW COVENANT” is just a MISTRANSLATION in the BIBLE …

… & of course, like all FALSE TEACHINGS, they turn to LEXICONS to correct the Bible ….

… they prefer MEN’S FALLIBLE WORDS … instead to the INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD ….

They turn to passages like JEREMIAH 31:31, where Jeremiah prophesies of the NEW COVENANT ERA that we are now in.

He says: “Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:”

& they say that the NEW COVENANT is not actually NEW but a RENEWED COVENANT …

With the house of ISRAEL and JUDAH …

… & that it will only be established AT THE RETURN OF JESUS …

… when He sets up His MILLENIAL KINGDOM.

But let’s keep reading.

Jeremiah 31:32-33:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

So right there, God is saying that this covenant WON’T BE like the covenant that He made after He brought Israel out of Egypt …

… that it will be DIFFERENT, that it will be a NEW COVENANT.

We also see in Hebrew 8, that the writer of HEBREWS refers back to this exact passage, and says that it was INITIATED NOW at the SHEDDING OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

That it’s not some far off distant event …

Now it will be fulfilled completely at the millennial reign and when Jesus make a new heaven and a new earth …

… but it’s already begun ….

HEBREWS 8:6-10, speaking of Jesus’ sacrifice, says:
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

[the new covenant is better, it’s not the same, they had different purposes. The OLD was in order to establish the LAW and convict the world under sin].

7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

[there’s a FIRST & a SECOND. There’s not a THIRD COVENANT, as some hyper-dispensationalists teach.].

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
…
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

See, the OC is ready to vanish away, it’s done away with … … we’re under a NEW COVENANT ….

The HRM are saying that we must continue to OBSERVE ALL THE COMMANDMENTS in the OLD TESTAMENT …

… not just the MORAL LAWS …

But in Mark 2:22, Jesus Himself uses an analogy to explain that this is something NEW that He is doing:
“And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.”

He’s saying you can’t mix the OLD & the NEW …

You can’t put the NEW COVENANT into the TERMS of the OLD …

You can’t BLEND the COVENANTS, they are separate.

• You see, EVERYTHING in the OC was a SHADOW of things to come.

THE PASSOVER LAMB [which they continue to celebrate PASSOVER] represented JESUS CHRIST slain for the sins of the world.

So why would you CELEBRATE the SYMBOLS of a DEAD FEAST when the REAL LAMB has already been SACRIFICED ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL?

Hebrews 10:12: “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;”

Hebrews 10:14: “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

To go back & OBSERVE the PASSOVER is an INSULT to what CHRIST SUFFERED for you on the CROSS.

Now, we celebrate the LORD’S SUPPER which He commanded.

The COMMUNION of the LORD’S BODY & BLOOD SUPERCEDES the PASSOVER.

THE FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, another dead feast, represents HIS BODY BROKEN FOR US.

But they want to continue celebrating these feasts …

… while condemning Christians for celebrating the birth & the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

THE SABBATH represented that we are not to work for our salvation, but to REST IN GOD.

That’s what it foreshadowed.

But JESUS is now our SABBATH, as we CEASE FROM OUR OWN WORKS for SALVATION & rest eternally secure in Him.

But they want to continue to observe the PHYSICAL SABBATH as a requirement of God’s Law …

… when we rest in Jesus EVERY DAY.

Hebrews 4:9-10 says:
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

That’s why Jesus said in Matthew 11:28: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

That’s why the FOURTH COMMANDMENT – to KEEP THE SABBATH HOLY – HAS BEEN FULFILLED.

It hasn’t been ABOLISHED – it’s been FULFILLED in CHRIST.

CHRIST IS OUR SABBATH.

That’s why ROMANS 14:5 says: “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”

That’s why Colossians 2:14 says that Jesus has blotted: “… out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;”

In Verse 16-17: “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

You see, all of these were a SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME …

… they were not the actual things.

And so now that the ACTUAL has come, why would you celebrate the SHADOW?

Why honor the SYMBOLS of CHRIST when you have CHRIST HIMSELF?

That was the whole point of the SYMBOLS, to point us to CHRIST.

These are called the CARNAL LAWS or CARNAL ORDINANCES.

They are the CEREMONIAL LAWS.

Hebrews 7:16-19 explains, [speaking of Jesus]:
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

THE HEBREW ROOTERS are trying to be made PERFECT by FOLLOWING THE CARNAL LAWS …

… which are done away with … because the ACTUAL has come.

Hebrews 7:22 says: “By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.”

It’s really IRONIC that those who want to return back to the HEBREW ROOTS …

… would really benefit by reading the BOOK OF HEBREWS.

Hebrews 7:12 nails it: “For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”

We’re no longer under the LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD …

… the LAW has been CHANGED.

The CARNAL ORDINANCES have been DISANNULED … is the word that the BIBLE USES.

To DISANNUL means to CANCEL, to ABOLISH, to DESOLVE, to NEGATE, to NULLIFY & to REPEAL …

Again, Hebrews 7:18: “For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof”.

& this HERESY is not entirely new.

… because there were HEBREW ROOTS cultists back in Paul’s time …

… except Paul didn’t call them HEBREW ROOTS, he called them JUDAIZERS.

People who wanted to RETURN to the MOSAIC LAW, instead of abiding in the GRACE of JESUS CHRIST.

We see this in Acts 15:5-10
5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Isn’t this exactly what the Hebrew Roots are saying?

KEEP THE LAW OF MOSES, that’s what they preach.

But look what the APOSTLES did.

They didn’t agree. They weren’t like, “Of course we have to keep the commands.”

No, instead they called a COUNCIL TOGETHER to determine how to deal w/ this.

6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
10 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

[and so they conclude the matter. & this is what they say, in v. 19:]

19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: [he says, leave them alone, they don’t have to follow the commandments, the carnal ordinances, because remember this was a question of physical circumcision and keeping under the Mosiac Law. And what does he say?]

20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

[and that was it … these were the only things they wanted them to focus on. These were the only restrictions.

Now, murder was obvious, it’s a part of the moral Law, it’s a given … don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t steal, don’t commit adultery …]
…
& in v. 24 he says: “Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

He says that such people are SUBVERTING YOUR SOULS, when they tell you to keep the Law, the CARNAL ORDINANCES … is what he’s talking about here.

We see also that the same thing occurred with the Galatians.

Galatians 3:1-3:
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”

You can’t be made perfect by following the Law, you’re made perfect in Christ by walking in the Spirit.

Peter Himself had become a JUDAIZER momentarily … until Paul rebuked him.

Look at Galatians 2:11-14:
11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

But the HEBREW ROOTERS insist that we have to STOP EATING PORK & KEEP A SATURDAY SABBATH …

Their claim is that we must observe the Sabbath from Fri. evening to Saturday evening (as the God’s people originally did).

But having SUNDAY WORSHIP is actually Biblical.

Now we can worship any day of the week.

But Acts 20:7 proves that the EARLY CHURCH met on SUNDAYS, & not on the SABBATH:

“And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.”

In 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Paul also highlights the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK:
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first [day] of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as [God] hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

What was the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK?

Well, the SABBATH is the LAST DAY OF THE WEEK.
It’s the 7TH DAY.

The 7TH DAY, the SABBATH, ended on SATURDAY NIGHT.

So if believers were meeting on the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK, that would have been SUNDAY …

… just as we do today.

& 1 of THE REASONS that the EARLY CHURCH met on the FIRST DAY of the WEEK & NOT THE SABBATH …

… was because JESUS RESURRECTED on the FIRST DAY, SUNDAY.

Mark 16:19: “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.”

In Matthew 28:1, just before Jesus rose again, it says: “In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.”

So all these false religions & cults, like the 7th-Day Adventists & the HRM …

… which believe that all church services should be on SATURDAY …

Are actually going directly against the example of the early church & Scripture.

• They also teach that we must abstain from UNCLEAN FOODS, like PORK & shellfish …

What does ROMANS 14 say?

VERSES 2-3:
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

& then Paul says in Romans 14:14: “I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it isunclean.”

& in verse 20, he says: “For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.”

ALL THINGS INDEED ARE PURE.

How is that hard to understand?

The only restriction is not to allow our liberty to become a stumbling block to the weak.

We also read earlier in Colossians 2:16: “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink …”

Peter also had a vision in Acts 10, where he sees all manner of WILD, UNCLEAN BEASTS …

… & Jesus Himself tells him to kill & to eat.

Acts 10:12-15:
12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Now, I understand that the spiritual application of this vision was that the GENTILE were no longer considered unclean …

The Gospel was going to go out into every nation …

You didn’t have to join the nation of Israel anymore to inherit the promises.

Now the Gospel is open to all nations, its without borders …

… because the purpose of the nation of Israel was to bring about the Law, which it did …

… and to bring forth the Messiah … which it did … & which they rejected …

& now that ERA is over.

THAT’S WHAT ACTS 10 is ultimately talking about.

But God never uses something LITERAL, like eating UNCLEAN FOOD …

… to convey a SPIRITUAL TRUTH …

… unless the LITERAL MEANING applies also.

In other words, God doesn’t “spiritualize” everything away.

He speaks on multi-layers.

• ALL FOODS are now clean under the NEW COVENANT …

• & you no longer have to come under the tenets of the MOSAIC LAW to enter into covenant with God.

Galatians 3:26-29 says:
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

That’s how we inherit the promises & the blessings given to the HOUSE OF ISRAEL & the HOUSE OF JUDAH …

… as JEREMIAH 31:31 talked about.

By GRACE thru FAITH, we become HEIRS of the NEW COVENANT, initiated at the MOMENT OF JESUS’ DEATH.

The NEW COVENANT began when JESUS shed His blood.

Hebrews 9:15-22:
15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

People wonder when the NEW TESTAMENT era began.

It was at the shedding of the blood of Jesus.

His blood initiated & ratified the new covenant.

• It’s just like when we make a will & testament.

• It doesn’t go into effect, until our death.

Backing up just a little bit to Hebrews 9, the Bible teaches that the TEMPLE SERVICE was of the FIRST COVENANT …

& it was a WORLDLY SANCTUARY …

Hebrews 9:1: “Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.”

FIRST OF ALL, if there was a FIRST COVENANT … then there is a SECOND COVENANT …

This verse alone shatters the idea that there is only ONE COVENANT … as they teach.

Or some people teach that there are 7 covenants, which is not true either.

There was a FIRST & there was a SECOND, the OLD & the NEW.

& the Bible calls the 1st covenant, WORLDLY, or CARNAL or a SHADOW …

… until Christ came to fulfill them in Himself.

Hebrews 9:9-10:
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

Hebrews 10:1 says that the Law was a: “shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things …”

VERSE 6 says: “In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.”

I ASKED ONE OF THE HEBREW ROOTS guys once, which PARTS OF THE TORAH OR LAW do you say we should keep?

All the LAW? Parts of the LAW? Is it just about Sabbath keeping to you …

Or do you believe we should still SACRIFICE ANIMALS? and do blood sacrifices?

& I was expecting them to say, NO, OF COURSE NOT, JESUS was our SACRIFICE.

HE’S THE LAMB OF GOD.

But that’s not the answer they give.

THEIR ANSWER IS:

We don’t do animal sacrifices anymore because THERE IS NO TEMPLE right now to do ANIMAL SACRIFICES IN.

Do you realize how scary that answer is?

Not only does that answer negate the FINAL ONCE-AND-FOR-ALL SACRIFICE of JESUS CHRIST …

… But these are the people – who when the ANTI-CHRIST comes & reinstitutes the ANIMAL SACRIFICES in the rebuilt temple …

… will fall right in line & start worshiping the FAKE MESSIAH & start sacrificing animals all over again …

The HRM want to follow every aspect of the MOSAIC LAW …

… but Galatians 3:10 says: “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”

These people are bringing a curse upon themselves, because they want to be under the LAW …

… instead of under GRACE.

Galatians 3:24-26:
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

[WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER A SCHOOL MASTER.

WHAT’S THE SCHOOL MASTER? THE LAW.

SO WHAT ARE WE NOT UNDER? THE LAW.]

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

We don’t even time to go into CIRCUMCISION in detail …

But in 1 Corinthians 7:18, Paul says: “Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised.”

In Galatians 5:2-8, he says:
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. [Circumcision represented covenant under the Mosaic Law. Again, he’s saying that is done away with].
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
7 Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
8 This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.

IT COMES DOWN TO THIS.

We are no longer under the MOSAIC LAW.

The OLD COVENANT has WAXED OLD.

So what law are we under? To Love God & our Neighbor as ourself.

The CARNAL LAWS are done away with.
But MORAL LAW, don’t lie, don’t steal, don’t murder, these things are ETERNAL.

MORALITY NEVER CHANGES …

… but the OLD TESTAMENT SYMBOLS OF CHRIST are now obsolete, because Christ Himself is here.

Galatians 5:13-14:
13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

What are these HEBREW ROOTERS doing?

Are they out FEEDING THE POOR?

Have they SOLD ALL THEIR POSSESSIONS and GIVEN TO THE POOR?
Are they out doing GOOD WORKS?

Or are they feeling SELF-RIGHTEOUS & HOLY by observing the SABBATH & ABSTAINING FROM PORK?

Amos 5:21-24:
21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

So which Laws do we follow? The Laws that God has written in the heart and conscience of every human being.

Remember, Hebrews 10:16: “I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them”

It’s not written in my heart to abstain from pork ….

It’s not written in my heart to keep a Fri. evening to Sat. evening Sabbath.

It’s not written in my heart to celebrate the feast of unleavened bread …

… but it is written in my heart to love my neighbor and not to hurt anyone.

The moral law is written in my heart, along with the new covenant itself.

When we walk in the Spirit, instead of the flesh, we fulfill the moral law.

Galatians 5:22-23:
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Romans 7:6: “But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”

Galatians 5:1: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
